What I'm Loving: September 2012

  • Lorac POREfection Powder

  • Benefit Borefessional

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion in "Eden"

  • Maybelline "The Colossal Volum' Express" Mascara

  • Maybelline Baby Lips in "Grape Vine"

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blush in "Dollface"

  • Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in "Honey"

  • Minimal Makeup
I've enjoyed wearing little to no makeup in the last month.  My morning routine includes 1)powder, 2)Mascara, 3)Eyebrow pencil, 4)lip color, 5)blush

  • My New Jam

Everyone has some song that they inexplicably like.  For me I have a new addition to my list (previously occupied soley by "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz).  I really enjoy the song "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction.  I lined to a group on 5 men playing the song one ONE piano.  It's quite entertaing to watch even if you don't like the song.

  • Dexter

This is easily one of my favorite shows of ALL time.

  • The Newsroom

This is a very good show.  I don't like it as much as Dexter, but it is still good.

Update: September 2012

I'm back in Eugene and school's about to start tomorrow.  My pinky (pinkie?) finger hurts quite badly at the joint as if I needed to pop it, so that's strange and I wish it would stop.  My roomie is as obnoxious as ever.  I really don't like her.  She can take a flying leap off something.

I rearranged my class schedule so it's a lot nicer now, hopefully...  I have Math 281, Economics 202, CIS 111 (web programming), and CIS 210 (general programming), and I'm taking flute lessons.

I miss my lover and I just want to lay down and watch Dexter or some movie all day long.

BBBs: Budget Beauty Buys

Although I have higher end alternatives to the products listed below, I always choose these drugstore steals instead!

To start off with, I don't know where I'd be without my Neutrogena pressed mineral foundation.  The two listed below are virtually the same product, except the one in the white packaging claims to help clear acne.  I personally cannot attest to that since my skin is generally in good shape, but I do have to say that I prefer the applicator sponge in the white packaging to that in the tan/beige.  This product lasts for quite a while and gives light-medium coverage, which is what I prefer.  If I could only use 3 products for the rest of my life, this would (hands down!) be one of them!  Retails for $11.99
Mineral Sheers Compact Powder Foundation
Neutrogena Mineral Sheers powder foundation

SkinClearing Mineral Powder
Neutrogena SkinClearing mineral powder

Wear them as a base or on their own--cream shadows have finally been done right in the drugstore! The Maybelline Color Tattoos are phenomenal deals at only $5.84 a pop!  My favorite is "Bad to the Bronze."

Healthy Skin Enhancer

My favorite tinted moisturizer of all time is the Neutrogena Healty Skin Enhancer! Light, non-greasy, light coverage, long-lasting.  $10.49

The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment is my favorite concealer.  Although it is intended solely for under eye concealing, I also love it for blemishes, or even using it in a few key places to take the place of a foundation!  I highly reccommend this!

The Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers (I love "Rhubarb") are intensely pigmented tinted lip balms.  The Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm in "Sunny Berry" is a favorite of mine.  To make it even better, it smells exactly like a red Jolly Rancher.  And last, but not least, the Maybelline Baby Lips in "Grape Vine" adds a sheer wash of a grape/berry tint to the lips which is great for a subtle look.

On Repeat

You tick me off;
I get mad.
You get sad;
I feel bad.

Makeup Corner: What I'm loving 9/5/12 Edition

Lately I've been passing up my MAC "Soft Ochre" Paint Pot for Urban Decay's Primer Potion in "Eden." I got it for a great deal--only $9 from Nordstrom Rack.  It is easier to use in a hurry than the paint pot, which is why I've been favoring it lately.
After using my trusted, tried and true Neutrogena mineral foundation for years I decided to switch it up a bit in my last visit to Ulta. I've been using the Lorac Porfection Baked Perfecting Powder lately as my foundation.  It is actually meant to set liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer (or bb cream), but I find that it gives me more than enough coverage (I prefer very light coverage), feels light, and it doesn't sink into my skin the way liquid foundation does (I HATE the feeling of liquid foundation--even a moisturizer feels unpleasant to me).  I don't have large or noticeable pores, so I can't weigh in if they do diminish their appearance, but it is a nice, soft powder foundation or a powder that can be used to amp up the coverage of another liquid foundation.  Next I will try the BareMinerals Ready foundation.

MAC's "Well Dressed" has been my go-to blush for the month.  I love that it's a no-fuss blush.  I can swirl my blush brush in the pan as much as I please, tap off a bit and go.  I don't have to worry about looking like I'm sunburnt or bruised or if I am being too heavy handed.  It's a no stress blush.

Benefit's "Benetint" has been my favorite lip product for the summer.  It adds that natural, Snow White look to a simple face.  It can also be used on the cheeks, but I'm a little too pale for that and end up looking burnt.
Maybelline's BabyLips in "Grapevine" is such a beautiful color for my complexion.  And it's less than $4!

Hello, again!

Well, I'd like to say I haven't slacked off on this blog...but, seeing as the last post was nearly 10 months ago, it is undeniably true.  Summer vacation is dwindling down to its last days, and the anxiety of another school year is quickly setting in.  One of my teachers has already sent out homework.  It's for my Abstract Algebra (MTH 391) class, which I'm most nervous about. I've been taking my best shot at the problems and, hopefully, I will be able to get most of them finished by time the quarter starts.

Anyway, this summer has gone by really well.  I went to Mall of America with my parents which was really amazing.  I got a lot of cool makeup there (just what I needed more of...) and it was an overall great experience.  I would love to go back there sometime soon.

This summer I've been battling with weight problems again.  I'm up to 136lbs. I've ballooned overnight.  Before I went to North Dakota I was a 127lb girl, and now I've balloned up to 136 lbs over the course of 2 weeks.  I've been eating less than normal, and exercising more than normal, yet my weight goes up each day and it is quite stressing me out.  I don't know why and I feel so disgusting.

Some things I'm currently enjoying are:

  • The television show "The Tudors"
  • Natural Products
  • Paraben-Free Products
  • Rose-Water Spray
  • My new car (2012 Ford Focus 5-door)

Some things I'm currently hating are:

  • Mascara (although I still wear it...I NEED it.)
  • Makeup (ditto for above...)
  • Food (Why do I keep gaining weight.  I'm turning into a fat, undesirable cow)
  • Pressure

Till next time,
CD
